A portrait photographer who has created iconic images of major figures in the arts and politics, and brilliantly documented New York’s nightlife, wowe (Wolfgang Wesener) was born in Koeln (Germany) in 1960. After his studies of Design and Communications in Essen, he arrived in New York in 1984. Subsequently, he began a 12-year collaboration taking portraits for the acclaimed FAZ-Magazin supplement to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, moved to Italy in 1990 to work for international magazines and on personal projects and currently lives in New York City. His works have been exhibited in New York, Berlin, Roma, Napoli, Praha, and are present in the most important European collections of photography.
